BVA Eye Testing at the 2024 WCSS AGM
During the 2024 AGM, a BVA eye test session was conducted, and 51 dogs (all Clumbers
that a ended on the day) were tested, with 44 dogs receiving completely normal eye test
results.
Of the 7 dogs with affected results, the following problems were iden fied, with some
dogs having a combina on of issues:
Cataract (congenital cataract bilateral anterior and posterior)

Foreign body in the cornea

Given that several dogs, that otherwise would not have been tested, had unexpected eye
issues iden fied, it would be worth all members having their dogs eye checked regularly.
Unexpectedly the dogs iden fied with cataracts were all young dogs, with one having a
congenital cataract (cataracts that appear in young dogs o en under 12 months) found in
both eyes.
