Out of the 277 dogs, 40% had hip scores recorded during their lives so far. The average
combined hip score was 15.9, with the highest being 71 and the lowest 0.
20 (7.2%) of dogs in the WCSS health survey were diagnosed with hip dysplasia, with a
total hip score ranging from 30 to 71.

1)
All breeding stock should be hip scored prior to breeding.
2)
Dogs diagnosed with hip dysplasia as diagnosed by a vet (usually
defined as hips scores over a combine score of 20 or where hip scores
are very uneven) should not be bred from.
3)
EBV should be considered as well as hip scoring when looking at
breeding stock – more will be discussed below regarding EBV.
