Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Phosphatase 1 Deficiency (PDP-1)
In 2021, 11 Clumbers were tested for PDP-1, and all were clear. There are 261 PDP1 test
results recorded on the CSC database and only 4 carriers of have ever been found in the
UK. It is recommended that all breeding stock is tested for PDP1.
All dogs from the WCSS Embark project tested clear for PDP-1. Though one dog was
reported as a carrier in the WCSS health survey.
Of the 500+ Clumbers tested through Embark 94.5% of dogs were clear, 5.5% were carriers
and no dogs tested affected.
Recommenda ons
1)
To con nue to test all dogs for PDP-1 prior to breeding as recommended
by the Kennel Club.
2)
All imported semen should come only form PDP-1 clear males.
