·
Pyometra – treated surgically (2)
·
Caesarian – (2)
·
Hydrometra – (1)
·
No interest in male – (1)
The most common issues in dogs were:
·
Retained tes cle/s in the groin – (8)
·
Retained tes cle in the abdomen - (3)
·
Tes cular atrophy – (2)
·
Low fer lity or infer le – (2)
Retained testicles have a strong genetic link so no male with a retained testicle whether it
is in the abdomen or the groin should be used for breeding and should be neutered to
reduce the risk of testicular cancer for the male during its lifetime. Testicular cancer is 12
times more common in either testicle in a male who suffered from a retained testicle.
What this means is that both the normal and the retained testicle carry a higher risk of
cancer than that of a normal dog
