Breeding Survey Results
NB: Some results shown may be diļ¬erent to the numbers in the health survey as the two
projects were run separately and have been summarised separately.
A massive 51 li ers were registered in the WCSS breeding survey. Of those li ers 7 were
reported anonymously, 44 were reported with full data.
The health advisory panel and WCSS thank everyone who took the me to register a li er
we were overwhelmed with the level of support shown with this project.
Health tes ng results prior to breeding in bitches were very posi ve with the majority of
dogs and bitches having had hip, elbow and EIC and eye tests.
In bitches 88.5% had been hip scored and 82.7% had been elbows scored.
In bitches 67.3% had EIC DNA tested while 26.9% were hereditary clear for EIC, leading to a
total of 94.2%.
In bitches 53.8% had an eye test in the prior 12 months and 26.9% had had an eye test
prior to the 12 months before breeding. This means 80% of bitches had been eye tested at
some point in their life.
Most owners relied on a hereditary clear result for PDP-1 which is a required test by the
Kennel Club for the breed.
